September Favorites

Books:

I finished the Scarlet series by A.C. Gaughen. The first book is probably still my favorite, but they were all pretty good. I just love Will Scarlet as a girl plus being Marian.

Food:

The picture is a little squished for some reason.

There was only one Bahama Bucks here and it was way across town, so I never went. I just found out that one was put in right down the street from me!! They are sooooo good. It's shaved ice and they have it in all kinds of different flavors. I always get a Bahama Rama Mama, which is vanilla ice cream at the bottom (the best vanilla ice cream you will ever have), then shaved ice, and then on top is a creme. I got pineapple because I was craving a dole whip and it was actually really good! Maybe even better than a dole whip.

Pinterest Series: Lower Stress

15 things to do when you’re stressed. http://adashofdayna.blogspot.com/2016/03/15-things-to-do-when-youre-stressed.html:
website

These drawings are so cute! So I'll do a few of these now and a few later. These are ideas to help lower stress and with school in session I'm gonna need it.

#1 I took a bath! I never take baths, but I did.

Totally pampered myself and it was so nice definitely worthy of the less stress category. Especially when I used lavender oil, it smelled so good! And it was super calming.

[Bath Bomb]

First - took off makeup with new makeup remover wipes and put hair up (because I wasn't going to wash hair)
Second - put in 5 drops of lavender
Third - book, so I have something to read while I relax (no text/school books!)
Fourth - have nicest robe waiting for after
Five - put on bath playlist turned down low
I like this one:

Six - eat peppermint patties (they have a calming taste, but you can switch out with anything else)

After:
cleaned face with a face wash
put on night cream
lit candle in my room
put on comfy pajamas
put on  jersey shore mongogongo lip conditioner
put lotion on feet

The second time I did this I used a charcoal face mask, so you can change it up each time.
That also counts as #3.
#2 I don't find deep conditioning my hair as a calming experience.

#5 After a long day at school, coming home at 7:30 at night, I escaped with a TV show. I put on Netflix and watched Friends. I used to watch it at random times whenever it was on TV and now I will actually watch it in order!

#6 Light a candle. Okay so I lit the candle while I'm studying, but it's still nice and smells so good.

So far the ideas I have tried do work!

August Favorites

Food:

Waffle Luv! is delicious. It's a food truck, but also has a few small stores in Utah. The food trucks also usually hang out in Utah, but in August one of them drifted down to my neck of the desert. I always get the banana cream pie. Sooooo good! The waffle is filled with chocolate and topped with cream and bananas. Their Dulce de Liege is really good too. It's topped with fried ice cream. It's mostly waffles, but they also sell a cheese sandwich with tomato soup that I'd like to try in the future.

TV and Books:

I'm so behind, but I finally watched the second season of Daredevil. It was so good! I think I liked this season better than the first. There will probably be MASSIVE SPOILERS, so if you haven't seen it yet either, look away. I liked Karen more in this season too. She had a better story and it didn't hurt that Frank Castle usually showed up in here scenes. I didn't like Elektra though. She was crazy lady, hopefully she's not as crazy later (because I mean if you saw the early 2000 Daredevil and Elektra movies, you know she comes back). My favorite was The Punisher aka Frank Castle. So when he first appeared I was like "oh noooo" because I didn't like the actor when he was in Walking Dead, but he has been redeemed. I liked The Punisher movie, so it wasn't too hard for me to like the character, but he is portrayed very differently. In the movie he's supposed to be kind of good getting revenge for his family, but in Daredevil he's still getting revenge, but everyone is seeing as something bad. There's a whole controversy of whether it's ok because he's getting rid of all the organized crime or he's bad because he's going around killing all of these people whether they're good or not. I should have also put disclaimer I don't read comics, so everything I have to refer to are the past movies I've seen. The finale was so good! When The Punisher showed up and he was wearing his official outfit I literally said out loud, "this is so exciting!" I was excited to find out that Karen knows that Matt is Daredevil now and can't wait to see what she thinks of it. This season just gave me all the feels. Possible villain for next season, Bullseye? That'd be great especially with knowing that Fisk still has pull and he could send in his assassin now. I noticed it mentioned Jessica Jones and I had not seen that series yet either. And before you ask, or you can probably guess I haven't seen Stranger Things either. So I watched a few episodes of Jessica Jones after finishing Daredevil because I figured I should have probably watched these in the order of them coming out, if they're going to be doing references like this, but I have to say I'm not that into Jessica Jones right now.

This book was so good. My brother had been raving about it forever and every time I saw him he'd ask if I had read it yet ( I hadn't). I finally thought I should probably read this after he had asked once again. So I did and he was right! I should say I did try to read it before this, but I had been listening to it on audio book because that's what he had recommended because of the Irish narrator. I have the hardest time listening to audio books. I can't pay attention, my mind wanders and all of the sudden I've missed a whole chapter and have no idea what's going on. So I read a physical copy. It does start out slow and that was another reason I couldn't get into it on audio. Once you get past the first few chapters it speeds up and the action is just being thrown at you. I like to say it's like Hunger Games, but it's not for anyone's entertainment. It's for their future and what kind of career they're going to have. It's more brutal, violent, and it's actually just for like the "capital kids" of the Hunger Games.
Darrow is the main character, it's set on Mars, and he's in the lower class of society. He thinks he's supposed to be getting Mars ready for people to live on because Earth is becoming this wasteland. Then he finds out that everyone is already there on Mars and he's pretty much just being used as a slave. This group of people that are like rebels transform Darrow to look like the Gold, who are the highest class, and gets him into this "school" where they battle it out, so he can infiltrate the society and bring them crashing down.

Misc.:

Anthology Candles! I am obsessed. They are Disney inspired and smell how they would picture it smelling or how it actually smells. I purchased my first one, Tink's Flight, because I heard it was going in the vault until next spring. If it wasn't for that I would have had a hard time picking. It's supposed to be what they think Tinkerbell's pixie dust would smell like. It's coconut, lime, and verbena. It smells sooo good. I actually have it burning right now. I want to collect them all. They have one called Splash Down that smells like Disney attraction water, Black Pearl. Haunted Mansion, Churros... They just came out with a Fall collection that's inspired by Maleficent, Ursula, poison apple, and the pumpkin carriage, which smells like pumpkin and marshmallows! Check them out here.
