Favorite Things: June

FOOD:

Sam's Club 4 Berry Sundae

I had seen this before when it was called a parfait and had wanted to try it. I have now finally tasted this sweet piece of heaven. It's frozen yogurt with blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries.

Online:
I'm liking pulseit.com right now. They have a free book for you to read every Friday. If you're into young adult books, I'd check it out. They have The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer right now, which has been on my to read list for a long time and I liked it a lot. But you only have a week to read these books. Friday at midnight, or Thursday at 9 pm depending on if you live on the east or west coast, that week's book goes away and there is a new one to read.

Books:
If you read my other post you know all about The Dressmaker. So it's a June favorite, check it out.

I will be on vacation for the next week, so I'm not sure if I'll be posting, but I will try to finish A Week in Winter, the next book in the books worth reading series.

Pinterest Series: Snow White Nails

Get ready for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom with this Snow White-inspired nail design! #DIY #Tutorial #NailArt

Website Pin led to: None

I have no yellow nail polish, so I went with a glamorous Snow White, by using gold. I don't have very much experience with drawing on my nails, usually it's a few strokes and done. So the bows are definitely not perfect.

Pinterest Series: Books Worth Reading

Apparently these books are worth reading and I like to read, so why not see if they really are that good. Plus summer is like the reading season, right?

#1 The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott

Worth the Read? Yes!

This book had me hooked as soon as I started reading. It's about what happened after the Titanic went down. There's a big controversy of why so many people died that night when there was a lot of room in some of the lifeboats. The main character, Tess, is trying to make a living sewing and designing dresses, and she ends up persuading this world renowned fashion designer into hiring her as a maid on the Titanic. Tess and the designer, Lucille, survive the tragedy, but throughout the rest of the book it's a tense relationship because Lucille was in the lifeboat that was almost empty. Tess has two love interests, so there is a story to it and not just people in court all day trying to figure out what went wrong. I didn't know this until I finished the book, but in the author's note Kate Alcott says that Lucille and these hearings were real life people and events. I'm sure Tess wasn't a real person, but that made the book even cooler that there was some truth to it. I've only heard about the Titanic as the indestructible ship that sunk and most of what I know is from the movie. :) I've never heard of what happened after that night, I never even thought that it would end up as this big case. I think that's what I like about this book, that it gives a different perspective.

#2 Cold Tangerines by Shauna Niequist

Worth the Read? I have no idea.

I couldn't find this book anywhere... at least for free. I don't like purchasing books that I haven't read in case it's a waste of money. Worth the read is still pending on this one.

Next Time will be A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy. I would be delighted if you choose to read it along with me.

Photo

1. Put hair in a messy bun.

2. Put on comfy pajamas or sweats.

3. Pick a movie or TV show you've never seen before.

4. Make everything but the kitchen sink cookies. Find all of the chocolate and candy in your house and try out different variations.

5. End it with a good book or maybe just binge watch the new series.
